Gallery
Here are before/after pictures of some of the
implants that I have personally placed.
A big thank you
to my patients pictured below who consented to the use of their
photos! I placed the crowns/bridges/denture pictured below as
well.
(these pictures can not be reproduced without
written consent from Dr. Jeff Shnall)
Case 1a
This patient had
two upper front teeth removed a few years prior.

Another before view.
I placed two dental implants.

Here
is the after photo of the two porcelain crowns cemented onto two
implants.
Case
1b
This patient had two have
several upper left teeth removed. Three implants were placed,
followed by the placement of permanent crowns.

Here are the final pictures.
Note that the patient did not wish to change the appearance
of his front teeth.

Case 2
NOTE: IN
CASE #2 IMPLANTS WERE PLACED BY AN ORAL SURGEON, BRDIGEWORK WAS
PROVIDED BY DR. SHNALL
In years past, if
a patient was missing all their upper or lower teeth they were
faced with a life wearing a full removable denture.
Now patients have
an option. In the upper jaw 6 to 8 implants can be placed and
a permanent set of teeth can be attached to the implants.
Our patient
pictured below had 10 implants placed by an oral surgeon (although
I often place my own implants). I made a temporary set of
teeth (temporary bridge) that we attached to the implants with 10
screws. The teeth can only be removed by me and not the
patient.

The temporary
bridge was worn for about six months allowing for further healing
of the implants. The permanent bridge was then inserted and
is pictured below:

(can be simply
unscrewed and removed by dentist but not by the patient)
Case
3
This patient was missing his four lower front
teeth. I placed two implants and inserted a permanent
porecelain/metal bridge that was cemented onto the two implants.
See photos below:

Case
4
The case below is one that required a combination
of a single implant and a porcelain/metal bridge to replace several
upper left teeth.

BEFORE
-The upper left
tooth (second one in) was badly decayed and had to be
removed.
-The tooth beside
this one, to the right on the picture was rotated and our patient
wished it looked nicer. See below:

AFTER

The final picture shows the decayed tooth replaced
by a dental implant and porecelain/metal crown which I placed in
approximately June 2008. Some of the upper left teeth were replaced
with a porcelain/metal bridge.
Case
5
This patient wanted to replace two missing upper
left teeth and also improve the overall appearance of her smile.

BEFORE

BEFORE

BEFORE
I placed one implant in her upper left jaw
and replaced the two missing teeth with a small bridge
cemented on the one implant. I also placed porcelain veneers
on four upper teeth to close the space in between the front two
teeth and to improve the smile.

Case
6
Every patient we see has their own unique needs and
preferences. The patient pictured below wanted to improve the
appearance of his smile but did not want a complete makeover (i.e.
he did not want orthodontics, whitening, veneers, etc).

BEFORE
I recommended we
(1) remove the upper left front tooth (the one that was badly
out of position). and (2) recommended making the two front
teeth a little narrower as they were quite wide and overlapped the
neighbouring teeth. The picture below shows these two
changes:

In Progress

The lower tooth below the extracted one was also
levelled off (shortened) to allow more roon for an upper
replacement tooth.
Pictured below is the
final result:

CASE
7
This patient requested implants to replace two
missing upper left teeth.
Note that some of these pictures were taken using a
dental mirror and some were not, so in some pictures the
right and left sides of the mouth may be reversed (mirror
image).

BEFORE
I placed two dental
implants in the upper left. A protective metal cap was placed
on each implant.

These implants were left in
place for 12 weeks. In order to improve the patient's chewing
ability during this time I cemented a temporary bridge in
place.

Temporay
Bridge
The temporary bridge improves appearance, and chewing
ability.

After the implants were allowed to heal for 12 weeks the
temporary bridge was removed and we made final posts and crowns
that were inserted into mthe implants.

Case 8
I placed an implant in the lower
right back molar area for this patient.
We waited 12 weeks and then placed
the final post and crown into the implant.

lower right (mirror used for photo)

After 12 weeks we
placed a post into the implant and then the final crown was
cemented over this post.

Final porcelain crown has been cemented onto the
implant.
